I’m A Celeb star Fred Sirieix’s co-star weighs in on luxury items debate

Fred Sirieix became emotional last night on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after his campmates recovered some special items to improve on mealtimes in camp.
The French maître d’hôtel’s First Dates co-star Merlin Griffiths decided to weigh in on social media after the objects chosen by teammates Sam Thompson, Marvin Humes and Tony Bellew meant that some people weren’t able to have their luxury items.
Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Merlin told his 60,300 followers: “It’s quite sad, but, I’d probably also take stock cubes over chocolate too. #TeamFred” (sic)
It comes after the three campmates won 24 out of a potential 30 coins to use on the jungle vending machine after competing in the Misery Motel trial.
Arriving back at camp, Sam explained: “What we decided to do, we bought five stars and treated ourselves to a couple of things…”

Pulling a chef’s apron out of his pants, he told an obviously touched Fred: “This is for you mate.
However, it was the next high-impact item which caused the chef to become emotional, as Sam revealed: “We then got some stock cubes, baby!”
Fred could be seen tearing up at the idea of adding some flavour to the group’s meals, with Sam noticing and announcing: “He’s got tears!”

Fellow campmate Josie Gibson also appeared to be overjoyed, as she told the Bush Telegraph: “Oh my god, stock cubes. I could see Fred’s eyes welling up.”
“It almost feels like Christmas Day,” said Fred agreed. “It’s not in his bag, it’s in his pants!”
Sam also delighted the camp by revealing they had also succeeded in nabbing a bar of chocolate from the trial, with Nigel Farage remarking that it would “go down so well” and Danielle Harold exclaiming: “I am so excited for that chocolate!”
However, Sam was forced to justify their choices to the group, who could have received their personal luxury items.
Just last week, Jamie Lynn Spears broke down in tears as she admitted her luxury item – a picture of her children – meant everything to her.
“Jamie, your luxury item was on there. Nigel your chair, Fred, your tune, but we thought you’d want the chocolate more,” Sam explained.
Luckily for the team, Jamie Lynn was quick to congratulate them on their tough choice, reasoning: “Honestly, if you were going to get one person’s luxury item, I don’t think that’s fair. I think y’all did good. You got something for the camp’s morale.”
