DAVID BECKHAM has revealed exactly what Fabio Capello told him before he was temporarily axed from Real Madrid in 2007.

The England legend, now 48, joined Los Blancos in 2003 and spent four years at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he was axed from the first team during his final season in Spain after signing a pre-contract agreement with MLS side LA Galaxy.

Beckham has since recalled the moment he was told he would "never play for Real Madrid" again.

Speaking about the incident in his new Netflix documentary series, BECKHAM, the former midfielder said: “At that point it didn’t really come into my head about moving to America, as much as I loved America.

“I was playing for Real Madrid. I was more focussed about getting back into the team. And I wasn’t going to walk away.

“So obviously at that point I was very upset.”

Beckham later added: “The manager came over and said ‘David, you go over there,’ and he made me train on my own.

“I remember sitting in a box with my family watching the games and I’d never experienced something like that before.

“Even though they went through a period of not winning games I couldn’t get into the team.

“But even if I wasn’t wanted, I wanted to be there.”

Despite Capello's initial claim that he would never play for Real Madrid again, Beckham was reintegrated back into the first team just one month later.

The England star went on to help the Spanish giants to the La Liga title following a 3-1 win over Mallorca on the final day of the season.

Real Madrid chiefs attempted to persuade him to stay for another two years, but Beckham insisted on joining LA Galaxy in July 2007.
