As Madonna continues her worldwide Celebrations Tour, the singer ensured she had her fun both on and off stage in Milan last week.
For the second time, the 65-year-old poked fun at Pope Francis with her controversial black and red hoodie featuring the Catholic leader’s image embroidered onto the front.
The image shows the religious leader with big flaming wings and wearing robes with the word Madonna inscribed across them.
The mother-of-six was spotted in the controversial number as she left her lavish hotel in Milan just after her first show at the Mediolanum Forum.
She braved the chilly winter weather by layering up, pairing the hoodie with a black bomber jacket and a red plaid shirt.
Madonna only first revealed the custom piece last month on Instagram, which references her iconic quote: “I would like to see the Pope wearing my T-shirt.”
The pop star has a notoriously turbulent relationship with the Vatican and its leaders largely due to her unapologetic use of Catholic symbolism in her music and videos over the decades, usually in a provocative manner to create controversy or conversation.
Her troubles with the church date back decades, with her 1989 music video for Like A Prayer being banned by the Vatican at the time due to its erotic depiction of Jesus and the burning of crosses.
At the time, Pope John Paul reportedly encouraged fans to boycott her upcoming Blond Ambition tour.

His successor, Pope Benedict XVI, also took aim at the musician, calling her 2006 concert in Rome “blasphemous” as she donned a crown of thorns and strapped herself to a cross according to the Evening Standard.
However, the Grammy winner is seemingly on far better terms with the current Pope Francis and often reaches out to him over social media.
Last year, the Like A Virgin singer claimed she had been excommunicated from the church three times, writing on X, then known as Twitter, that it didn’t “seem fair” and requested an audience with the Pope.
The Hollywood legend has been vying for an audience with Pope Francis for years, although the reason why does tend to change.

Initially, she told Andrew Denton in 2019 that she wanted to discuss “Jesus’ point of view about women” and whether he “would agree that a woman has the right to choose what to do with her body”.
In 2015, during a New York City concert, Madonna praised Pope Francis for being “very open-minded” and dedicated a heartfelt version of La Vie en Rose to him.
After wrapping up her Milan shows, Madonna is heading to Germany this week followed by two shows in the Netherlands and two dates in London before returning to America to make a start on the rescheduled shows that were meant to take place in July after she was rushed to the ICU.
