This is the shocking moment waiters brawl with customers reported to be foreign after a row broke out at a café in Venice’s famous St Mark’s Square.

Footage shows a group of men shove each other and crash into tables and chairs on the outside terrace of the Caffè Chioggia on St Mark’s Square.

The men can be seen kicking and slapping each other, while one man held a chair in front of his chest, seemingly to protect himself.

Tourists enjoying their morning coffee at the café under the Marciana library and opposite the famous Doge’s Palace were shocked when the fight broke out and quickly backed away.

Four male customers of ‘foreign nationality’ and at least seven waiters were involved in the brawl, according to Italian outlet Corriere de Veneto.

Local media reported that after a heated discussion, a few waiters pushed one of the ‘foreign customers’ away.

The men then retaliated by shoving staff members standing nearby who were trying to calm down the situation.

A mass brawl ensued during which both sides seemed to get increasingly violent as they kicked and slapped their opponents.

The video was taken by an English-speaking woman last Thursday, who can be heard saying ‘What’s happening? Oh my god’ behind the camera.

The waiters involved in the fight did not disclose a reason to Corriere del Veneto.

The owner of the café, Sebastiano De Zotti, does not provide any answers at the moment.
