ONLY Connect’s missing vowels questions has left viewers dumbfounded – but can you solve it?

The BBC Two quiz show hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell is notoriously difficult, and regularly leaves viewers scratching their heads.

The show features a number of different rounds, including one where the two teams have to fill in the missing vowels from words connected to a particular topic.

In Series 15, Episode 5, the final round's topic was things that were 'Happening right now'.

It left the contestants perplexed, and viewers at home equally baffled, especially as one of the questions referenced the show itself in a further twist.

Can you work out the answers?

If it helps, you could write down the letters on a piece of paper and try inserting different vowels to see what makes sense.

But if you would rather just get to the point and find out the answers, here they are:

  • Missing Vowels Round

Yes, the show sneakily referenced the round the contestants were currently playing. Did you get it?

If you did, let's see if you can get this other brain teaser from the show right.

During another missing vowels round in episode 37 of season 12, the category was "five words in alphabetical order".

The clues were:

  •  BGB GBGB GBG
  • PTTN GPTT NGPT TNGPT TNGP TTNG
  • MSS SMS SSM SS SMS SSM SSS
  • LS TL ST LST LS TL ST

That's a lot of consonants to add vowels too! But can you solve any?

If you can, maybe you should apply for the show.

Here's the answers for this one:

  • BAG BEG BIG BOG BUG
  • PATTING PETTING PITTING POTTING PUTTING
  • MASSES MESSES MISSES MOSSES MUSSES
  • LAST LEST LIST LOST LUST

If vowels aren't your thing, you can have a go at a question that even Victoria branded her "least favourite".

The episode in question saw teams The Golfers and The Jukeboxers try and find the missing links between words or phrases.

The teams were initially presented with two mathematical equations, which amounted to 20 acres and 43 acres respectively.

Then a photograph of a combine harvester was given as the third clue – before team The Jukeboxers buzzed in to give the correct answer, do you know what it is?

They correctly guessed the fourth photograph would be a key, in reference to The Wurzel's No 1 hit song 'The Combine Harvester'.

The song features the line: "I got 20 acres, and you got 43. Now I got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key."
