Krishnan Breaks Down After Watching Montage Of His Strictly Moments

Strictly Come Dancing star contestant Krishnan Guru-Murthy has revealed he requested to have more sequin-adorned outfits on the show after feeling “left out”.

Speaking of his experience in the competition, the 53-year-old said he asked the wardrobe team to make him “a slightly glamorous Saturday night version of what I look like on the news”.

As the show went on however, the newsreader said his outfits didn’t feature any sequins and therefore didn’t feel like he was truly Strictlyfied like others.

“I actually requested sequins,” he told the Mail Online.

“I realised I hadn’t had any so far and I was feeling a bit left out. Thank goodness I did.”

Krishnan became the seventh celebrity contestant to be voted out of the competition earlier this month after judges favoured Angela Rippon over him in their dance-off.

The news anchor gave it his all on the dance floor with the help of professional dancer Lauren Oakley, who joined the show last year.

Following his exit, Krishnan broke down in tears on Strictly: It Takes Two as highlights from his dancing journey were played out on the screen.

When the video came to an end, both he and Lauren were reduced to tears, as the show’s host Fleur East commented: “We have some Strictly tissues.”

Lauren went on to say: “I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better dance partner.

“He was a blank canvas, it was so nice to learn how he learned, figure out how he learned, figure out how to get the best from him and create routines around him.”

Krishnan went on to reflect how his 16-year-old son Jay had also gone from cringing at his dad’s dancing to becoming a fan of the show and a regular watcher from the audience.

“We will both miss it an awful lot, it’s been such an amazing family experience,” he spilled.

“He’s loved it, his journey is almost as transformational as mine when you think about it!”

Krishnan’s time on the show ended a week before the latest Blackpool special episode.

This year’s oldest contestant Angela became the eighth contestant to leave the competition after all four judges voted to save Bobby Brazier.

Now, the six remaining couples will do all they can to secure their place in the quarter-final musicals special.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
