Russell Brand’s £16m fortune in jeopardy as tour cancelled, YouTube ads cut, book axed and comic dropped by partners | The Sun

September 20, 2023

RUSSELL Brand's estimated £16 million fortune is in jeopardy after he was accused of rape and sexual assault by several women.

The under-fire presenter, who vehemently denies all the allegations against him, has had his tour cancelled, his YouTube adverts cut and his book axed – as well as being ditched by business partners and agents.

Today it emerged that Brand's Australian tour had been cancelled before it was even announced.

The 48-year-old was due to appear at The Wanderlust Festival next February but both Brand and organisers have agreed to cancel his performance.

The festival's chief executive said that his appearance had been cancelled due to "the circumstances that have recently come to light".

It comes after The Sun revealed yesterday how Brand had rushed to close down one business before the allegations came to light, and was then dropped as director of two other companies by business partners.

Brand and wife Laura, who appears to be standing by her man, rushed to strike off their joint firm Brand New Collective last week on Sept 12th, Companies House records reveal.

This was days before a joint Dispatches and Sunday Times investigation saw five women make accusations of sexual assault against Brand.

Brand was also removed yesterday as director of movie company Mayfair Film Partnership Ltd – worth around £729,700 – and performing arts firm One Armed Bandit – worth £61,031, records uncovered by The Sun revealed.

Brand had been a director at the two firms alongside his former managers Nik and John Linnen but the pair appear to have cut ties with the star.

Nik Linnen had been best man at Brand's first wedding to pop star Katy Perry.

The Linnens said they could not comment on the matter for "legal reasons" when approached by The Sun.

Publisher Bluebird, who were due to publish Brand's self-help book later this year announced it had paused all future books with the comic as a result of "very serious allegations" against him.

Meanwhile, YouTube yesterday announced it had removed ads from Brand's channel – which could cost the comic a million a year in revenue – for "violating" its "Creator Responsibility" policy.

The BBC and Channel 4 alsorevealed they had pulled shows and podcasts featuring him.

BBC Director General Tim Davie then said he would not rule out an external probe into Brand's conduct while at the channel, saying that the issue was not "wholly historic".

And Channel 4's boss Alison Mahon said that the allegations against Brand showed that "terrible behaviour" towards women had been "historically tolerated" in the industry, when she spoke at the Royal Television Society's convention today.

The announcements came after the pub Brand and his wife own in Oxfordshire, The Crown, was fenced off and guarded by security guards on Monday – while a sign read that the pub was "temporarily closed".

The comic has also been ditched by his agent – Curtis Brown-owned talent agency Tavistock-Woods said it had "terminated all ties" to the star following the allegations.

Company's House records show his long-time agent Angharad Wood resigned from his film production company 90 Ninety Films Ltd on Sept 13th, before allegations against him came to light.

Brand did not comment on the state of his business empire when contacted by The Sun.

He is currently being investigated by the Met Police after a woman contacted them on Sunday alleging she was sexually assaulted by him in London in 2003.

That came after five women come forward to accuse Brand of sexual abuse between 2006 and 2013 over the weekend.

Another woman came forward to The Sun on Tuesday and alleged Brand stalked her down the street demanding sex.
