ITV I’m A Celeb’s Grace Dent looks downcast as she lands back in UK after jungle exit
November 28, 2023Grace Dent has landed back in the UK following her stint on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The food critic, 50, was forced to quit the show on medical grounds, earlier this week and has already made her way back home, opting against remaining in Australia until the show's final.
Grace was pictured on Tuesday afternoon as she landed back at Heathrow Airport wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeved black top.
In Monday night’s instalment of the ITV show, actor Nick Pickard read out a statement in which Grace said leaving at this stage of the show would be “one of the saddest things in my life”.
Her statement added: “My dear campmates, I’m so sorry to let you down. I have left the camp for medical reasons.
“My heart is broken, I have loved and enjoyed getting to know you all. You’ve held me up and it’s been a pleasure being your friend through this experience.
“Leaving you all at this stage will be one of the saddest things in my life. I love you all. Your friend, Miss Grace Dent.”
Ahead of Monday night's episode, ITV released a statement announcing Grace's departure, which read: "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike."
And just hours after the announcement, Grace was photographed leaving Australia as she checked into her flight home at Brisbane Airport.
During her time on the show, viewers had expressed concern for Grace, claiming that she looked "zoned out" after it was announced that she and This Morning presenter Josie Gibson would be taking part in a Bushtucker Trial.
Following this, Grace left the show, with EastEnders actress Danielle Harold stepping in to do the trial instead.
These concerns were then echoed by a friend of Grace, who told The Sun: "It has been incredibly difficult for her and it all became too much. The cold and wet weather, coupled with the punishing tasks and lack of food took its toll."
They added that Grace had lost weight in the short time she was in the jungle, describing her as now looking "gaunt."
The source then shared when Grace's pals first became concerned that something was wrong, as they told the publication: "Grace is incredibly talented and very passionate about politics. When she failed to get involved, it was clear she was feeling defeated."
"It is the first anniversary of her dear dad George’s death in a few weeks too so that would have no doubt been playing on her mind" they finished.
