A mother who got a face tattoo to honour her daughter says trolls claim the inking makes her a ‘bad parent’ – but she doesn’t regret it.
Katie Taylor, 27, from Rayleigh, Essex, has been getting tattoos since she was 18 and wanted a special one to always reminded her of her two-year-old daughter.
She has a rose, as a nod to her daughter’s middle name on her face so it could serve as a ‘constant’ reminder – and although trolls haven’t been kind, Katie sports her tat with pride.
Trolls have told Katie her tattoos make her ‘bad parent’ and a ‘thug’ but she doesn’t care and said her little girl ‘loves it’.
The stay-at-home mum spent £80 on the tattoo – which sits to the side of her left ear – and took an hour to complete.

She said: ‘My daughter said to me “That’s my tattoo”. She loves it. I’ve had the odd comment on my tattoos like: “You’re a bad parent”.’
The mother already has around 15 tattoos – making up a sleeve on her right arm and thigh – and went to add to her inkings with a design on her face on November 16, 2023.
Apart from her first tattoo at 18 – a bird design which she quickly got covered up with green roses, Katie has ‘never regretted’ any of her tattoos.
Katie said: ‘I’ve always loved tattoos and piercings. My face one is so gentle on the face. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea’.
Katie said the inking wasn’t painful but she doesn’t plan on getting any further ones on her face.
She said she’s had a mixed reaction to her ink – with some loving it and others brazenly criticising her look.
‘Some people online have said “You’re a thug’, “You look like you’ve just got out of prison” – [but] I don’t judge someone by the way they look.’
Katie said all that matters is her partner, Jake Kennedy, 29, a business owner, and their daughter love her tattoo.

She said Jake encouraged her to go and get her face tattoo when she was thinking about it.
Katie said: ‘He was the one that said “If you want it, you go and get it”. My daughter says “Mum’s got lots of drawings on her arms”.’
‘This tattoo has got to be my favourite so far. I want my daughter to grow up knowing if she wants a tattoo or to do something for herself, she could go and do it.
‘I want to show her that can do what wants in the world’.
