Strictly’s Jamie Laing sets record straight on ‘unfair treatment’ of Karen Hauer
November 25, 2023Strictly: Jamie Laing reveals how he ended up ‘dropping’ Karen
Jamie Laing has had his say about Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer and the “unfair treatment” surrounding her and her celebrity partners.
The Made in Chelsea star, who was paired with Karen on the BBC show in 2020, spoke exclusively with Express.co.uk.
Karen has been one of the longest-serving pros on the programme, with this year making it her 11th series on Strictly Come Dancing.
However, since her partnership with Jamie three years ago, she has experienced a series of early exits with Greg Wise, Jayde Adams and Eddie Kadi respectively.
Speaking about whether she’s being “treated unfairly”, Jamie joked: “Just no one was as good as me. That’s not the case. I think it’s a really tough show.

“And it’s a lot about resilience. And it’s a lot about, you know, it’s just tough.
“Think of Oti Mabuse – she had Bill Bailey. I think at the beginning, people thought that he probably wasn’t going to be the best, but then he won it. It’s sometimes potluck.”
Jamie also highlighted that he was in the most dance-offs ever recorded, landing himself in the bottom two four times until he came second place in the final.
He added: “So it’s being able to handle the pressure when it comes down to it, I think. It’s like 11 million people are watching you. It’s so insanely intimidating.”
