<\/p>\nDRIVERS have been warned heavy rain is set to lash roads today as 50mph winds batter the coast. <\/p>\n
The Met Office has forecast a gloomy Monday as wet and windy conditions threaten to cause transport disruption. <\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
Forecasters have confirmed weather alerts for heavy showers are in force for areas across the country. <\/p>\n
Experts advised residents to be cautious as they are braced for "wet commutes" and "poor driving conditions".<\/p>\n
The Met Office said: "Winds will once again pick up across the southwest overnight with gales possible near the coast and over the hills.<\/p>\n
"Poor driving conditions are possible especially when combined with some heavy rain at times."<\/p>\n
The "band of rain" will also bring heavy rain towards the southeast England. <\/p>\n Blustery showers will hit the South and Southwest producing gusts up to 50mph along the coast.<\/p>\n Met Office forecaster Craig Snell said: "There's a risk of some outbreaks of rain potentially turning fairly consistent across the far north into the afternoon."<\/p>\n Major cities including Brighton, Dover and Rochester will be affected first with strong downpours and winds. <\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The rain will also hit those living near the coast and far north of Scotland. <\/p>\n Scattered showers will continue during the evening – especially over Northern Ireland. <\/p>\n And it will become heavier as it moves towards Swansea, Aberystwyth and Newtown. <\/p>\n Despite the windy conditions, meteorologists said there will be mild temperatures reaching up to 14C. <\/p>\n "With more of a northerly component to the wind, it will feel a little bit cooler than it has been of late. <\/p>\n "But still generally on the mild side with some places staying in double figures," Mr Snell added.<\/p>\n As the morning progresses, some parts in the Midlands, East Anglia and Southeast England<\/span> will remain dry – with some sunny spells.<\/p>\n By midday, Met Office forecasters estimate crisp highs of 12C across southeastern areas. <\/p>\n That will then allow clearer skies across the far north of Scotland and also across parts of Northern Ireland<\/span> later.<\/p>\n But experts said cloudy skies will quickly return as the day goes on.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, Brits should brace themselves for a frosty morning with figures dropping to 5C and 7C in North Scotland.<\/p>\n The meteorologist said: "Here we may see a touch of frost as we start Tuesday morning. <\/p>\n "But elsewhere it is going to be another fairly mild start of the day with temperatures not falling much than around seven to nine degrees."<\/p>\n It comes after the Met Office revealed when snow could fall with flurries expected this month – as well as just before Christmas.<\/p>\n Forecasters have\u00a0already\u00a0predicted a wintery weekend\u00a0as Brits gear up for the festive season with a blanket of the white stuff to settle in higher parts of northeast of\u00a0Scotland.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/yappapp-woman-murdered-manhunt-underway-860836713.jpg\")
