{"id":143588,"date":"2023-11-15T07:02:05","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T07:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theprojectsworld.com\/?p=143588"},"modified":"2023-11-15T07:02:05","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T07:02:05","slug":"moment-adults-use-12-year-old-boy-to-steal-fossils","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theprojectsworld.com\/world-news\/moment-adults-use-12-year-old-boy-to-steal-fossils\/","title":{"rendered":"Moment adults use 12-year-old boy to steal fossils"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Moment adults use 12-year-old boy to steal fossils while they distract gift shop staff as boss says he&#8217;s had to introduce &#8216;shoplifting tax&#8217;<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Staff only realised the theft after they noticed items missing and reviewed CCTV\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shocking video has emerged of shameless adults using a young kid to distract gift shop staff before stealing fossils.<\/p>\n<p>The family were filmed entering the gift shop in Weymouth, Dorset.<\/p>\n<p>In the video, the father figure appears to pick up and look at various objects before putting them back on the shelves.<\/p>\n<p>At one point the mother, who is carrying a baby, asks a member of staff a question, seemingly distracting them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/11\/77551319-12724757-image-a-267_1699443542356.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>At one point the mother, who is carrying a baby, asks a member of staff a question, seemingly distracting them<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/11\/77551315-12724757-image-a-266_1699443536767.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The boy is about 4ft in height and was wearing Wellington boots, a black coat, grey jogging bottoms and a dark beanie hat<\/p>\n<p>All the while their son, who is aged about 12, secretly puts several fossilised rocks in his coat pocket.<\/p>\n<p>Staff at the shop only discovered the theft when they noticed missing products from the shelves and then reviewed the CCTV footage.<\/p>\n<p>The boy is about 4ft in height and was wearing Wellington boots, a black coat, grey jogging bottoms and a dark beanie hat.<\/p>\n<p>The manager of the shop has described the shoplifting as &#8216;self-entitled greed&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8216;The parents pretended to shop while the son filled his boots.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/11\/77551321-12724757-image-a-268_1699443547246.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The manager of the shop has described the shoplifting as &#8216;self-entitled greed&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/11\/77551317-12724757-image-a-269_1699443554126.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The child is captured on a second camera taking items from the shelf and putting them in his jacket pocke<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s absolutely a family thing. The vibes were not right at all. The CCTV shows them regularly meet up around the shop and whisper to one another.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Sadly this is not a unique situation and is a readily occurring thing, especially with families.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Unfortunately, it&#8217;s a national epidemic and a cloud over local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The effect on the business is big. We try to keep prices down but you end up adding on a shoplifting tax whether you want to or not.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The worst effect is on morale of staff. It&#8217;s hard not to take it personally.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s demoralising.
