Star Trek Picard: Patrick Stewart stars in new spin off series<\/h3>\n

Sir Patrick Stewart has revealed he was “disappointed” with the quality of his acting when he appeared in the first series of Star Trek: The Next Generation.<\/p>\n

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the legendary icon shared how he prepared for the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his thoughts about his acting.<\/p>\n

“I watched two whole seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation and I was very disappointed in the quality and nature of my work in the first series,” he admitted.<\/p>\n

“It was not real enough. It was very authoritarian and very commanding but was way too stentorian.<\/p>\n

“It was my stage background, and it didn\u2019t work.”<\/p>\n

The 83-year old had built up a reputation in British theatre after 14 years with the Royal Shakespeare Company.<\/p>\n

In 1986, he was offered a six-year deal to star in a new sci-fi series called Star Trek: The Next Generation.<\/p>\n

The actor ended up playing the role of Picard for seven seasons and also made four Star Trek movies.<\/p>\n

He recently returned to the role for three seasons in the 2020 series of Star Trek: Picard.<\/p>\n

The theatre legend added: “In the second series I was much better because I had been working with very good American actors.<\/p>\n
