Davina McCall's new dating show will feature a man looking for love after losing his beloved wife to cancer 18 months ago.

My Mum, Your Dad – a kind of Love Island for the older generation – will see middle-aged singles after another chance in the romance stakes, with all the contestants nominated by their adult children.

According to the MailOnline, the group moving into a gorgeous country retreat will include postman Roger Hawes, whose wife Joanne passed away aged 52 after fighting cancer.

"You don't expect it to be you and you don't expect it to be your wife," said the 58-year-old.

"But I'm going on the show to get some confidence. I must have subconsciously wanted to meet someone by saying yes to the show."

Roger's children hatched the plan together because they wanted to let him know they were fine about him dipping his toe into the dating pool after losing their mum.

Daughter Jess said Roger always puts them first and that it was their way of telling him: "Stop worrying about us."
