<\/p>\nNICK Owen will be returning to screens after he took a four month absence due to his shock cancer diagnosis. <\/p>\n
The star rose to fame when he presented the very first iteration of Good Morning Britain on ITV in 1983. <\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
Nick, 75, is set to announce that he will be returning to TV where he will once again take to the BBC Midlands Today sofa. <\/p>\n
From Monday 11 September he will take airwaves once a week to once again keep viewers informed and updated with the latest local news. <\/p>\n
The household name recently opened up his recent prostate cancer diagnosis and revealed that he was undertaking treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After a period away to recover, his programme will go behind the scenes of his emotional return and the impact his condition has had. <\/p>\n

\u00a0Speaking ahead of his return, he explained: "I'm slightly apprehensive, but once I've done the first one it's like the old getting back on your bike again, it should be fine. <\/p>\n
"But it is slightly daunting, the thought of it … I think my heart will be beating that little bit faster than usual."<\/p>\n
Although he's feeling better, since his procedure he's still awaiting the results of his first\u00a0PSA test\u00a0since the operation. <\/p>\n
He's hoping to get the all clear, however he hinted that it's an anxious moment for him and his family as he commented: "It's a bit of a tense time waiting to hear."<\/p>\n
<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n However, the former TV-AM star thanked his fans for the "astonishing response" he's received since he opened up on the diagnosis. <\/p>\n "It was a massive release to be able to tell everyone what was going on so I didn't have to keep it to myself any more," Nick revealed.<\/p>\n Prostate Cancer UK said Google searches for the condition increased by up to 254 per cent in the following 48 hours after his public revelation. <\/p>\n And Nick was was left moved by the fact that thousands of men subsequently got in contact with charity.<\/p>\n "I'm really thrilled by that and very moved," he exclaimed. <\/p>\n "If it's done some good and it seems to have done, I'm absolutely thrilled. That was the whole purpose really, of telling the world."<\/p>\n Nick also admitted that his family and friends have supported him all the way as he revealed the impact on his health. <\/p>\n "It's meant so much because your body and your mind takes a mighty battering when you go through something like this," Nick confessed.<\/p>\n "I now know from first hand how incredibly debilitating it is and demoralising and lowering and how vulnerable you feel."<\/p>\n He added: "These last few months have been really incredibly tough and challenging but I've learned an awful lot about the kindness of people and how people care and are there to support you."<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/newspress-collage-23849433-1694084805634.jpg\")
