{"id":141058,"date":"2023-08-29T09:44:49","date_gmt":"2023-08-29T09:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theprojectsworld.com\/?p=141058"},"modified":"2023-08-29T09:44:49","modified_gmt":"2023-08-29T09:44:49","slug":"breakthrough-in-hunt-for-gang-who-stole-5million-solid-gold-toilet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theprojectsworld.com\/world-news\/breakthrough-in-hunt-for-gang-who-stole-5million-solid-gold-toilet\/","title":{"rendered":"Breakthrough in hunt for gang who stole \u00a35million solid gold toilet"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Breakthrough in hunt for gang who stole \u00a35million solid gold toilet in raid on Blenheim Palace as CPS consider charges against seven suspects<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0The\u00a0Crown Prosecution Service may soon formally charge up to seven people\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Police investigators are hopeful that they will finally be able to charge suspects implicated in the grand theft of a\u00a0\u00a35million gold toilet stolen from Blenheim Palace.<\/p>\n<p>The 18-carat gold toilet designed as part of an exhibition by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan was taken in a raid at the Oxfordshire stately home on September 14 2019 &#8211; just a day after it had been unveiled.<\/p>\n<p>And despite four years passing and police arresting seven suspects in that time, investigators are still yet to formally charge anyone in connection with the burglary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However police have reportedly now sent files over to prosecutors raising the chances of charges being applied, reports the Sun.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is up to the Crown Prosecution Service to now decide whether to charge any of the seven suspects &#8211; six men aged 36 to 68 and a woman, 38- previously arrested.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/10\/18581588-0-The_18_carat_gold_toilet_was_unveiled_at_Blenheim_Palace_Oxfords-m-14_1693299663863.jpg\" height=\"511\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The 18-carat gold toilet was unveiled at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, as part of an exhibition by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, before it was stolen<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/10\/19218492-0-The_palace_s_insurance_firm_Fine_Art_Specie_Adjusters_FASA_is_wi-a-13_1693299660720.jpg\" height=\"648\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The thieves ripped the expensive appliance from the fittings and made off with it<\/p>\n<p>The statement toilet, valued at \u00a34.8million and entitled &#8216;America&#8217; by its artist Maurizio Cattelan, was fitted in at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2016 and 100,000 people queued to use it.<\/p>\n<p>It was moved to Blenheim and into a chamber opposite the room where Winston Churchill was born for Cattelan&#8217;s first solo UK show in more than 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the time of the theft, artist\u00a0Cattelan said he hoped the theft was a prank and asked &#8216;who&#8217;s so stupid to steal a toilet?
