A WOMAN distraught over her failed relationship tried to smash a plane window mid-flight during a furious row with her boyfriend.

Photos show the crying passenger – who was allegedly drunk – striking the glass, sparking an emergency landing in China.

Footage from the aircraft shows flight attendants trying to move Ms Li from her seat as she cries and punches the window next to her, cracking open the first layer.

The pilot of Loong Airlines Flight 8528 had to made an unscheduled stop at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, in the capital of Henan Province in Central China.

Airport authorities said Ms Li “lost control of her emotions” on the flight on May 25.

Footage released to the media shows her crying in her seat while cabin crew and passengers try to restrain her.

The jilted female passenger was said to have been overwrought after being dumped by her lover.

Zhengzhou police told reporters she had drunk half a litre of Chinese grain alcohol known as ‘baijiu’ – a powerful brew containing up to 60 per cent alcohol.

Ms Li drank 500ml of baijiu prior to boarding the flight from Xining to the coastal city of Yancheng in Jiangsu Province in East China, the authorities said.

The Airbus A320 touched down in Zhengzhou without further issue, and no one was harmed during the midair scare, a police report said on 12th June.

Ms Li was arrested for a public order offence and detained by cops.

Her blood alcohol content was measured at 160 mcg/ 100ml, according to Zhengzhou police.

Cops did not tell reporters how long Ms Li was remanded in custody for, or whether she would be fined for damage caused to the aircraft's window.

It was also unclear whether she faced being blacklisted by China’s civil aviation authority as punishment.
