COPS have launched a murder probe after a woman in her 80s died in a picturesque Cornish village this morning.
Paramedics dashed to a home in Mullion on the Lizard Peninsula shortly after 11am.
They found the casualty fatally injured at the property in Laflouder Fields, which overlooks the sea.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police called to the address launched a murder probe this morning.
An 84-year-old man from Helston, less than eight miles away, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers are tonight continuing to quiz him.
They say the victim's next of kin have been informed, although formal identification hasn't yet taken place.
Scenes of crime officers are continuing investigations at the house.
A police cordon is in place at the property.
Villagers saw an air ambulance land on the football pitch this morning.

It's the second murder investigation launched in the area in a week following the death of a woman in Helston.
Police were called to a property in Meneage Road at 8.30am on Tuesday. A 62-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old man who was known to the woman was arrested on suspicion of murder.
