LEONDRA Kruger is an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court. 

She was born on July 28, 1976, and is currently 45 years old.

Who is California Supreme Court Justice Leondra Kruger?

Kruger was born in Glendale, California, and raised in South Pasadena. 

Her mother was a Jamaican immigrant, and her late father was an American whose parents had immigrated to the US from Europe; both parents were doctors. 

In Pasadena, California, she attended Polytechnic School, a private day school, and she went on to acquire a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Harvard University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and wrote for The Harvard Crimson. 

She earned her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School, where she was the first Black woman chosen to the post of Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Law Journal.

How did Leondra Kruger’s career in law begin?

She attended Harvard College and Yale Law School and is a native of South Pasadena, California. 

Kruger then worked as a law clerk for US Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens before going into private practice and teaching. 

She worked in the Office of Legal Counsel as acting Principal Deputy Solicitor General of the US from 2010 to 2011. 

Kruger was nominated for a seat on the California Supreme Court by Governor Jerry Brown in 2014 and on January 5, 2015, she was confirmed and sworn in.

Is Leondra Kruger married?

Kruger is married to Brian Hauck, a lawyer at San Francisco law firm Jenner & Block, and the couple has two children: a son and a daughter.

She was the first California Supreme Court justice to give birth while on the court.
