UK outlook for Tuesday 4 Dec 2018 to Monday 17 Dec 2018

FOG patches form amid a cold, bright and frosty start. Showers mainly confined to northern Scotland.

Cloud increasing from the southwest, with persistent rain later.

The rain will move east across England and Wales on Wednesday. Many parts in Scotland to become brighter. Remaining unsettled with further rain thereafter and getting very windy on Friday.

Bright Saturday but with heavy blustery showers in the north and west. Possible showers in the north and east on Sunday, with some more persistent rain likely for a time in the south and west. Gales in the east at first ease during Sunday, but may return to the west later.

Early next week and for the rest of this period longer drier, settled but cold spells are forecast, with lighter winds. Any wet and windy weather confined to the north and west.

Overnight frosts and perhaps fog, especially for the south and east, with a chance of snow in the north.

Some short-lived milder spells are likely, in particular from late next week onwards.
