The move comes after the US President revealed he was forming a space miltary to fight extraterrestrial wars.

Vice-president Mike Pence is expected to make the announcement today on Trump's behalf at the Kennedy Space Centre, in Cape Canaveral, Florida, two US officials said.

US intelligence report concluded earlier this year that Russia and China were pursuing "non destructive and destructive" anti-satellite space weapons for use during a future war.

This could potentially leaving troops in combat without electronic communications or navigation abilities as well as crippling the economy plus the food and medicine chain.

In August it emerged that a US Space Force — a separate military branch — would be created in the next year.

Both China and Russia already have their own forces and want to set up bases on the Moon.

As reported, the US is currently developing a space war room called the Hallmark programme.

Lt Col Jeremy Raley said it has two goals.

He said: “The first one is to create a more effective human decision maker in respect to space battle management command and control.

"In other words to to get information into a human being's head so they can make a decision about a military situation that has escalated in space.”

An array of space weapons are currently being developed and conceived for conflicts in the cosmos.

Weaponised asteroids, cannon firing molten metal and "rods from god" raining down on Earth are some of them.
