Tory MP mocked on Twitter for calling on knives to be fitted with GPS trackersMarch 15, 2019
A TORY MP was mocked on Twitter yesterday for suggesting knives be fitted with GPS trackers to tackle violent crime.
Scott Mann was forced to admit to having a “s**t” idea after he was ridiculed on social media.
The Cornish MP said the GPS tag could be fitted in knife handles – though there would be “obvious exemptions for fishing etc”.
Twitter followers immediately lampooned him – pointing out it police would have to monitor 300 million knives and asking would happen if gangs base themselves on fishing trawlers.
Colleague Johnny Mercer read out replies to his pal in a video – with one asking if the MP had been drinking.
Mr Mann conceded: “It was probably a bit of a s**t idea. But ultimately we have a problem and no one is coming up with any solutions.”
