The deaths of a woman and her husband in East London are being treated as a murder-suicide

Simbiso Aretha Moula, 39, was found strangled while husband Garikayi Moula, 51, was hanged at their home.

Police were called to the couple’s house in Rainham at 7.50am on Friday.

They are not looking for anybody else in relation to the deaths following the post-mortem examinations.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Simbiso’s death is being treated as murder.

Garikayi Moula’s death is not being treated as suspicious.”

Officers from the Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Considine said: “We are ensuring next of kin are being supported.”

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything unusual at the address to contact them.
