Prue Leith is hoping to emulate the success of her Great British Bake Off predecessor Mary Berry by launching her own range of kitchenware products.

Ms Leith, 78, has set up Prue Limited and in addition to scales, timers, measuring cups, jugs and spoons, the presenter – who is known for her colourful glasses – is putting her name to spectacles and contact lenses.

She is believed to earn more than £200,000 a year from her Bake Off duties. She took over from Ms Berry when the programme switched from the BBC to Channel 4.

Ms Leith hinted at her business idea recently on her website when she wrote: ‘I get so many comments and compliments about my necklaces, earrings and glasses I’m beginning to think of having my own range.’
