A TV writer has caused a Twitter frenzy after he shared photos of his father digging a grave for his family’s dog while it watched.

‘The vet told my dad on the phone (??) that his dog had to be put down and he’d come to his house and do it,’ writer Franklin Hardy tweeted on Wednesday.

‘My dad dug the dog’s grave AND LET THE DOG WATCH. Then the vet came and checked the dog and said it was a false alarm. Oops! Dog’s fine! Everything about this is insane,’ Hardy added on Twitter.

The tweet was accompanied by two photos of their adorable, but supposedly sick dog.

‘Why would the vet sentence the dog to death over the phone? No idea. Told my dad he doesn’t sound like a very good vet. Dad: “he’s a great vet!”‘ Hardy tweeted.

The photos took several people by surprise on Twitter.

‘This utterly destroyed me,’ one person tweeted as others likened the photos to the reboot of Stephen King’s horror novel, Pet Sematary, which recently hit theaters.

‘Man, this pet semetery reboot is a lot different from the 80’s one,’ a user wrote.

Some Twitter users wanted to make sure the dog was actually doing well, which prompted Hardy to share another photo of the pooch.

‘Since people are asking, my dad says the dog is doing “famously.” Here he is,’ Hardy wrote.

According to one of Hardy’s posts, this moment took place in Virginia.

Hardy is best known for his work on the You’re the Worst comedy series.
