  • The petrified passenger shrieks in fear and raises his arms in front of his face
  • The desert mammals continue to bash their heads around the car to snatch food
  • Eventually the passenger wriggles free and scrambles into the back of the car

A pair of hungry camels were caught on camera terrorising a passenger through a car window much to the delight of the driver who had enticed them with bread rolls.

The footage was taken from the dashboard of the car as the occupants stop to feed the desert animal.

In the video, a camel appears on the left of the screen as it pokes its head through the window in an attempt to retrieve a tasty snack being offered to it by the driver.

He holds what appears to be a bread roll in front of the passenger’s face who releases a series of petrified screams as the camel lunges towards him.

The driver continues to move the food around the car as the camel tries to grab it.

He then drops the food by the side of the passenger who lets out a scream as the desert mammal nibbles on his elbow in an effort to grab the food.

The driver continues to taunt his friend by encouraging the animal to get close to him.

By this time, a second camel appears at the open window as the passenger laughs nervously at the frantic situation and dodges out of the way.

The playful battle continues until the passenger decides that enough is enough and attempts to guide one of the camels back out of the window as it begins to grunt

The passenger eventually wriggles free of his seat belt before he scrambles over the seats to get to safety into the back of the car before the camels can reach him again

At the end of the video, the smiling driver leans forward to face the camera as the passenger, who is still in a state of shock, appears to take a few deep breaths and wipe camel saliva off his hands.

Although it is not known where the footage was taken, the video has so far received over 1.3 million views online.

What do camels usually eat?

Camels cannot afford to be selective about what they eat with the limited resources in their desert habitats

Camels are herbivores.

They often cannot afford to be selective about what they eat with the limited resources in their desert habitats.

They will often feast on all parts of the plants they find including twigs, shoots and stems.

Often they will battle through the spikes on cacti or other prickly vegetation in order to reach the fleshy parts of the plant.

Camels can eat such tricky snacks due to the hard palate on the upper sides of their mouths.

The desert mammal will graze throughout the day before regurgitating their food, chewing it again and re-swallowing it.

Tourists will usually feed camels with grains, wheat and oats.
