Parents of girl, 15, accused of 'stabbing her best friend in woods' claim she 'wanted to prove fictional internet character Slender Man was real' when she launched attack with friendJanuary 31, 2022
THE PARENTS of one of two teenage girls accused of trying to murder their best pal in the woods say the duo wanted to prove that fictional character 'Slender Man' was real.
On May 31, 2014, two 12-year-old girls invited a school friend over for a sleepover and lured her into the woods before stabbing her 19 times and leaving her for dead.
In police interviews, Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser said they attempted to slaughter Payton Leutner as a sacrifice to a mysterious character called the Slender Man.
Now in an extraordinary interview on Good Morning America, Annisa’s mum and dad, have explained why their child did what she did.
Mum Kristi Weier said: “They thoroughly believed that Slender Man was real and they wanted to prove that he was real.
“We've never seen her watch videos or read stories or say 'hey, look what I found on the internet'.
“Compared to the other three children (her siblings) she didn't show any signs of… disbeliefs or anything.”
The parents have not spoken with the victim's family.

But dad Bill Weier said: “If they were here face to face I would tell them I'm sorry, I would tell them I'm thankful Payton survived.
“And I would tell them that for as much as they are struggling with trying to process this and what happened to their daughter, we are struggling equally trying to process this with not only what happened to their daughter but to our daughter.”
Tall, white as a ghost and faceless, the Slender Man is an entirely fictional character created for a Photoshop competition.
Many viewers are convinced the strange hooded figure is a serial killer or a terrorist – while the video appears to be a call to assassinate the President of the United States.
