Mum of two teenagers shot dead by their father found dead just five months later

A mum whose children were killed by their father in a double murder-suicide has been found dead.

Olga Edwards, 37, was found dead in her home in north west Sydney on Wednesday morning.

Her death comes five months after her estranged husband John Edwards, 68, callously murdered their children Jack, 15, and Jennifer, 13, at the same house.

The tragic case rocked Australia and now Ms Edwards has been found dead less than six months later.

Daily Mail Australia reports her body was found by police at around 10am after someone concerned for her welfare contacted them.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A police source told The Telegraph: "She has been struggling lately.

"Since losing her children she has been in and out of hospital and police have been in constant contact with her and became worried when they didn’t hear from her."

Her children, Jack and Jennifer Edwards, were shot dead by their father on July 5.

Olga, who was born in Russia and worked as a solicitor, collapsed in shock when she arrived home to find her children dead.

Her estranged husband shot himself dead around 12 hours later at his home in a nearby suburb.

The two handguns used to shoot his children were found at his residence.

He and Olga had been embroiled in a custody battle for two years after their marriage broke down.

At the time of the killings, police said they believed he could have been planning the murders for up to a year.

Edwards worked as a financial planner and was described as a ‘recluse’ by neighbours.

His sister Dianne said she had nothing good to say about him and the family were horrified by what he had done.

She told The Telegraph: "He’s an awful man, horrible. Always has been."
