COPS have arrested a man after he allegedly tried to pull a woman onto the tracks at an underground station in central London.

The woman was unharmed but the man was hit by a train during the incident today at King's Cross station, according to British Transport Police.

Emergency services rushed to the Hammersmith and City Line at the busy station just before 1.30pm.

“It’s believed a man attempted to pull a woman onto the tracks, before being hit by the train himself,” a BTP spokesperson said.

“The woman was thankfully unharmed, but understandably shaken up.

“While enquiries into the incident are at an early stage, it’s not believed the two were known to each other.”

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in hospital being treated for head injuries.

Due to the incident there are currently severe delays on the Circle and Hammersmith and City Lines, according to Transport for London (TfL).

Tickets are being accepted on London buses.

Any witnesses who haven’t already spoken to police are asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 266 of 29/08/22.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously.
