Man, 32, charged with attempted murder after baby left fighting for life and mum injured in Tipton stabbing – The SunMay 30, 2020
A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a seven-month-old baby boy was left fighting for life and a mum injured in a horrific double stabbing.
Emergency crews were called to the home in Tipton, West Mids, on Thursday after neighbours reported seeing a man "holding a baby in a headlock" and a woman lying in a pool of blood.
Both were taken to hospital where the baby boy, who has a twin sister, is in a critical condition with multiple knife wounds.
His 37-year-old mum is stable and also being treated for knife injuries in hospital.
Aamer Araf, 32, has now been charged with two counts of attempted murder and is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today.
He was arrested at the home on Thursday morning as police confirmed they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror.
It came after neighbours claimed they saw a bloody kitchen knife on the ground.
One said: "We moved round to the front of the house and looked through the letter box. The lady was lying in blood on the floor and we called the police."
Another local said: "The woman was lying in blood on the floor to the side of the door in the corner.
"A broken kitchen knife with blood on it was lying on the door mat, but I couldn't see how big it was.
"They brought the baby out first through the front door then carried the woman out through the back on a stretcher. She was in a bad way."
