Joe Biden pulls out cheat sheet for question about Trump tax cuts

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden pulled out a cheat sheet as he fielded a question about taxes during a Town Hall event in Pennsylvania on Thursday night.

A Republican voter questioned Biden about his plan to get rid of President Trump’s tax cuts since they “reduce taxes for the majority of workers.”

“You stated that anyone making less than $400,000 will not see one single penny of their taxes raised. You also stated that you were going to eliminate the Trump tax cuts,” the voter said.

“What is your plan for either extending the tax cuts for the middle class or introducing a new plan that further reduces those taxes?”

In response, Biden pulled a white sheet of paper out of his jacket pocket and held it up to the voter saying, “I carry this card with me.”

“Trump tax cuts, about $1.3 trillion of the $2 trillion of the tax cuts went to the top 1/10th of 1 percent — that’s what I’m talking about eliminating,” he stated.

Snagging a glance at the card, Biden continued, “if you just take a look, we reduced the corporate tax rate from 35 percent…”

“He reduced it to 25 percent,” the former veep said, referring to Trump. “If you raise the corporate tax to 28 percent, which is a fair tax, you’d raise over $1 trillion by that one act.”

“If you make sure that people making over $400,000 paid what they did in the Bush administration…,” Biden continued, again stealing a peak at his cheat sheet, “This goes up to… let me get you the exact number here… $92 billion.”

“So you can raise a lot of money that can go into things that can make your life easier.”
