EasyJet has been accused of failing to pay thousands of pounds in compensation to passengers stranded after it cancelled 1,700 flights earlier this month.
Customers – many of whom faced delays of almost 24 hours – claim they were fobbed off with vouchers when they contacted the budget airline to complain.
Andy Samu, 47, who was stranded at Gatwick for 17 hours on July 9, claimed easyJet asked him for invoices of his airport spending when he rang about compensation: ‘I had spent £10. After that they ignored me. I’ve not heard from them since.’

EasyJet has said the cancellations were not its fault and were due to air traffic control delays, but critics say customers should not be punished for issues between airlines and airports.
Airlines are under growing pressure to reimburse travellers who are entitled to compensation if a flight is cancelled or delayed.
Last week, Wizz Air was told by the aviation watchdog, the Civil Aviation Authority, that it must re-examine six years of claims.
