Discount website Groupon is accused of making false claims in 14 deals
- Consumer website Which? said offers on the Groupon website were misleading
- Hotel spa package was offered at £139, compared to ‘standard price’ of £402
- The discount website removed the 14 offers and said that it checks its deals
Discount website Groupon has been accused of making dodgy claims in 14 deals.
Consumer group Which? said the offers were misleading. A mirror was offered at £19.99 – claimed to be a saving of 80 per cent on the full price of £100.
However, the original price was £35.
A hotel spa package was offered at £139 – compared to the ‘standard price’ of £402.
But the hotel’s website also priced it at £139 – while the original cost was £308, not £402. Groupon removed the offers and said it checks deals as part of a ‘constant review of pricing practices’.
