Cops hunt man as multiple women fall 'unwell' after 'drinks spiked' at Essex bar

September 6, 2021

POLICE are hunting a man after multiple women became "unwell" after their drinks were spiked at a bar in Essex.

Several women are said to have fallen ill after enjoying a night out at the Slug & Lettuce on High Street in Brentwood.

It is understood that their drinks were spiked at the cocktail bar on August 7.

One woman in her 20s is said to have become unwell at around 11.15pm, shortly after a man approached her.

Essex Police said he had put his arms around her and kissed her cheek, before she later became ill.

The force has now released an image of a man, dressed in a blue polo shirt, who they would like to speak to in wake of the disturbing incident.

It comes after a string of women had their drinks spiked in clubs across the UK as restrictions eased and nightclubs reopened.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We'd like to speak to him after a woman's drink was spiked in Brentwood High Street."

They also encouraged any other punters who felt unwell after attending the venue to report it if they have not done so already.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the man in the picture is asked to contact Essex Police and quote the crime reference number
42/163187/21.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can also be contacted on 0800 555 111.
