A POLICE officer has been charged on two counts of rape after a woman was allegedly attacked.

PC Rowan Horrocks was off duty at the time of the alleged rape and is now set to face Leeds Magistrates' Courts tomorrow.

The charges relate to a report from November 2021 that a woman in South Yorkshire was raped.

Horrocks, who works for South Yorkshire Police's response team, is currently suspended from duties.

The police have also announced that they have launched internal misconduct proceedings that are separate from the criminal justice process.

Head of the force’s Professional Standards Department Superintendent Delphine Waring said: "I know how understandably concerned our communities will be about this matter.
