Chilling moment killer dad Chris Watts calmly buys breakfast roll after murdering pregnant wife and kids and dumping bodies

The footage, released by Colorado's Weld County District Attorney, shows the 33-year-old buying a sandwich, and chatting with the cashier at 8am.

A separate video, released previously of the same morning, shows Watts carrying the bodies of his 15-week-pregnant wife and two young daughter Bella, four, and Celeste, three, out to his car at 5.30am.

The service station video shows a man who is calm, and seems at odds with the atrocious crime he had just committed.

Last week video was released showing the moment Chris Watts confessed to his dad that he killed his pregnant wife – but still blaming her for their daughter's deaths.

The cold-hearted killer admitted he smothered wife Shanann, who was pregnant with their son.

Watts is seen wearing an orange teeshirt, cap and sunglasses as he buys breakfastBut he only confessed to part of his crime after failing a lie detector test and still did not admit to smothering their two daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, in Colorado.

The Weld County District Attorney's office released the footage in which Watts says: "She hurt them. And then I killed her."

His dad Ronnie drops his head into his hands and replies: "Oh my God."

Footage has also been released which shows the moment he was told he had failed a polygraph test.

Agent Tammy Lee tells Watts: "It is completely clear that you were not honest during the testing.

"And I think you already know that. You did not pass the polygraph test."

He replied: "Ok. I didn’t…I didn’t lie to you on that polygraph…I promise."

But Watts had already referred to Shannan in the past tense despite her body not having been found at that time.

He added: "If I could have my babies back home right now, I would…I want them back…I want everybody back…that is the God’s honest truth."

His mistress Nicol Kessinger told cops that Watts told her he was getting a divorce and failed to mention that Shanann was pregnant.

She broke down in tears in the chat with police just days after Watts had murdered his family.

Nicol said: "It's like, you know, I'm gonna wake up every day and know that like this mum and her unborn child and these two little girls are not around anymore and it breaks my heart."

Watts dumped his wife and kids in an oil tank and shallow grave on the grounds of the oil field where he worked.

The new video occurred on the day after committing the murders.

He even text a co-worker laying plans to dump their bodies then took them home for pizza before murdering them in their beds.

At 5pm he text co-worker Kodi Roberts to say he was going to go to a far-out oil fields that managed by his company, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation the following day.

This was where his girls' and wife's bodies would later be found.

Talking to cops in interview, Watts said he took his daughters home, gave them both showers, fed them snacks and tucked them into bed.

Hours later they were murdered, alongside their mum Shannan.

Shannan's dad Frank Rzucek saw Watts and Bella on Facetime that evening, telling cops she was happily eating pizza.

Watts said Bella woke up twice in the night to ask when her mum was coming home.

The sister of the birthday boy who threw the party told cops Watts had asked her to watch the girls a day earlier.

It later emerged he was visiting his mistress, Nichol Kessinger.

Watts had pretended he was at a Colorado Rockies baseball game.

He booked the sitter, messaging: "Do you think McKenna is available to watch the girls for a few hours tomorrow night? I won a raffle at work for a Rockies game.

"lt's with people I don't know from work, but I haven't been to a game in a while where the kids aren't involved and only last an inning lol."

Watts' co-worker Roberts told investigators it was "unusual" for Watts to text him on a weekend.

He also confirmed Watts arrived at the isolated oil site early and alone, and made regular trips to and from his vehicle.

He did not realise that moment earlier Watts had buried Shannon in a shallow grave, and dumped the two girls in oil tanks.
