Cardiff star Sol Bamba lost Range Rover, Louis Vuitton bag and a Cartier watch in £90,000 raid on his homeJuly 1, 2020
A CARDIFF City footballer had his home ransacked and robbed in a £90,000 raid while his team were playing away in France.
Sol Bamba, 35, lost his Range Rover, Louis Vuitton bag and a Cartier watch when his family home was targeted by three thieves last year.
A court heard the trio struck while Bamba's team, Cardiff City, were playing in Nice, France – and his wife Chloe was away with their three children aged five to 13.
But the Ivory Coast international – who has also played for Leeds and Leicester – came home to find their house ransacked.
CCTV images from his home showed the three thieves wearing dark clothes, gloves and hoodies as they walked across his lawn into the house.
Daniel Flynn, 18, was seen driving his Range Rover Sport away from the house after the property was plundered.
Cardiff Crown Court heard other private possessions were smashed leaving wife Chloe "devastated at the intrusion into her home."
Judge Richard Twomlow said: "I am told the house was ransacked and property smashed during the burglary."
The exclusive Louis Vuitton bag and a Cartier watch were among her possessions taken in the raid – and left the family feeling "violated."
Cardiff City were playing a pre-season friendly against OGC Nice on the day of the burglary. The defender, who speaks five languages, returned home to discover the damage.
Flynn pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court to burgling Mr Bamba's property on the outskirts of the Welsh capital in July last year.
Accomplice Kyle Harris, 25, from Rumney, Cardiff, was earlier jailed for two years after admitting his part in the burglary.
The prosecution said Flynn had played a "willing part and had been involved in" many burglaries.
Flynn will be sentenced later this month after pre-sentence reports into his background.
The third man is still waiting to be brought to justice.
