British tourist dies after falling 30ft from ski lift 'while having a heart attack'January 11, 2019
The horror incident happened around noon local time earlier today on the Roc de Tougne chairlift in Meribel in Savoie.
It's claimed the man was in cardiac arrest when six first responders attended the scene after the 30ft fall.
Two emergency doctors then joined the first responders and according to La Dauphine, they worked on the man for half an hour.
However resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine if the man became ill before or after the plunge.
The prosecutor of Albertville has opened an investigation into the incident.
It's reported the man was accompanied by a female friend who is said to be assisting investigators.
The Sun Online has contacted the Foreign Office for comment.
The six-seater chairlift was installed in 2017 can carry 2,400 skiers per hour.
The Meribel resort in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps is a popular skiing destination for British tourists.
