Mr Sullivan, an apprentice gardener said: ‘I was out for my mate’s birthday celebrations. I had come out and saw my mate arguing.

Mr Sullivan said he has been left ‘struggling to breathe’

‘I had done a bit of shouting here and there. This guy punched me in the head. You don’t just hit someone for nothing.

‘As I went to defend myself, I was brought down to the ground by police. I just fell down and grabbed someone as I went down. Police were at the back of me. About three or four officers were holding me down.’

He claimed the man then began pressing on his head with his foot.

He was unsure who was responsible at the time, but said his family were ‘shocked’ when they played the video footage back and realised it was a doorman.

He added: ‘The police officers were screaming saying I was resisting. I was saying, “I’m not resisting”. I was in a cell for 12 hours.

‘It was scary. I have never been arrested before. There was nothing I could do. Police said there would be no further action afterwards.

‘There was a mark on the back of my neck. My rib was hurting when they were leaning on me. I have not been able to sleep. I was disgusted. I don’t see how they can do something like that. I have been struggling to breathe.’
