Yellowstone’s Jamie Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) had a traumatic third series as he discovered the truth about his family. Career-wise though, he has worked his way up and is now an Attorney General and so is thriving in the profession John Dutton (Kevin Costner) pushed for him to go into. There could be some competition headings its way though in the shape of his brother Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).

Will Jamie and Kayce become political rivals?
In season three, there were talks of Kayce running to become the new Governor which he was considering.
He would be spending less time in the great outdoors, working on the reservation at the Dutton Ranch in order to pursue this career which many believe he would be suited to thanks to his diplomatic nature.
Taking to Reddit, one fan said how it could be a good thing if Kayce did take over the political role.
They said: “Jamie’s now in the political position he wanted to be in, Attorney General, so as far as he’s concerned he’s untouchable and EVERYONE ELSE is beneath him and can go fly a kite.
“Since the governor only has a short time left on her term it’ll be interesting to see who he wants to get to fill her seat. (He might have some say in it.)
“But, if the ranchers want KAYCE to be the new gov…WOW!!!…then the Duttons would be in control of the whole state!”
The Duttons would become even more powerful than they are now in Montana with both Jamie and Kayce leading the way in the world of politics.
However, not everyone thinks Jamie would be happy about his brother switching careers and jumping on a profession he has dedicated most of his life to.
A fan explained: “I think if Kayce was elected governor, especially reluctantly, Jamie would see that as Kayce “stealing” what Jamie probably thinks should be his position, since Jamie is the Dutton who has been involved in politics.
“Throw in the fact that you know John Dutton is going to side with Kayce in any political battles with Jamie, and I think it would be a contentious relationship.
“Come to think of it, that could be a good conflict for season 5 if they went in that direction.”
Agreeing with the theory, another viewer added: “I have always thought that if they do pursue the Kayce/Governor thing, it may very well end up being brother vs brother for the job.
“Jamie would fight dirty for sure, while Kayce would likely be more reluctant to go that route.
“But with Kayce, it always feels like the potential with him is that he’ll be pushed to a certain point, but when he starts pushing back, watch out.”
So could it be that Jamie and Kayce will turn against one another as they both gain political power over the State?

Jamie’s relationship with John has always been strained with him often treating him differently to his other children.
Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) also resents Jamie for having her sterilized as a teenager, ensuring she would never be able to have children naturally.
The only happy relationship that he has within his family is with Kayce so if he does go into politics, this could put a strain on how they are with one another.
Jamie found out he wasn’t John’s biological son as he had been adopted so he may take out his resentment towards not knowing the truth for so long on his brother.
Of course, this will all depend on if Kayce survived the season three finale.
John, Kayce and Beth were all attacked in the season three finale.
Kayce was in his office, contemplating his potential future as the Governor, when a group of masked gunmen stormed in.
He was on the phone with his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille) at the time and the last thing fans saw of them was her in shock as she heard gunshots on the other end of the line.
Has Kayce been seriously injured in the attack or worse, just as he was considering the possibility of a political career?
Yellowstone is available to watch on Paramount Network.
