X Factor hits lowest ever ratings at just 2.8m during first live show of new Celebrity series – The Sun

October 28, 2019

THE X Factor recorded its lowest ever ratings at just 2.8million after 800,000 people switched off during the first live show of the new Celebrity series.

Ratings dropped from a 3.6 million peak during the episode to an all time low for the franchise which began in 2004.

Host Dermot O’Leary, 46, joked ratings were very much in the spotlight when Simon proudly announced the show was “trending on Twitter”.

Dermot replied: “That will keep the wolves from the door.”

He also revealed judges – Simon, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger were told to be “nice” due to ITV’s renewed focus on duty of care.

But US actress Olivia Olson, 27, wept on stage after being voted off by Simon in favour of keeping broadcaster Martin Bashir, 56.

Talk show host Ricki Lake, 51, also left the competition.
