Who is Sam Thompson? Made in Chelsea star and Louise Thompson's brother who will have another go on Celebs Go Dating

February 26, 2019

But the sparky lad has very much stepped out of his big sister's shadow. Here is the lowdown on the star, including his extensive dating history.

Who is Sam Thompson and what is his background?

Sam Thompson is a reality TV star who joined Made In Chelsea during the sixth series, back in 2013.

Like most of the cast, Sam had a privileged upbringing and attended the £28,000-a-year Bradfield College in Berkshire.

Sam moved into sister Louise Thompson's west London flat and was very much a side character on the show to begin with.

He even worked as Jamie Laing's Candy Kittens intern – doing menial tasks such as picking up his dry cleaning.

However, following a makeover and a new white pearly smile, Sam stepped out of the shadows and confirmed his place as a key character.

He had a tumultuous relationship with MIC co-star Tiffany Watson and he was also a fan favourite on Celebs Go Dating and Celebrity Big Brother 2017.

Sam has been open about his struggles with anxiety despite his exterior bubbly personality.

In November 2017, he said: "It's always the most energetic people that have the most inner problems, I would say, for lack of a better word.

"I'm super energetic. I try to be as happy as possible, but when you go so up, you're always gonna have a greater down. You can't keep up that level of energy forever."

"I get in my own head a lot. My worst enemy is my head and you can get trapped in your own thoughts, so it's good to talk to people about that sort of thing.

"I used to suffer from it really bad when I didn't know what it was, but it's actually got a lot better."

What has Sam Thompson done outside of Made in Chelsea?

Since rising to fame on Made in Chelsea, Sam Thompson has landed a string of reality TV show appearances.

He came third in the 2017 series of Celebrity Big Brother and in 2018 he appeared in Celebs Go Dating alongside fellow Made in Chelsea star Ollie Locke.

Although he failed to find love on the series, he did beco26me best pals with Towie's Gemma Collins.

In November 2018, The Sun Online exclusively revealed that the star was heading back on Celebs Go Dating's next series to have another go at searching for love.

Sam is now a keen vlogger, who has his own YouTube channel with over 26,000 subscribers.

Who has Sam Thompson dated?

When Sam first joined MIC he tried, and failed, to romance Fran Newman-Young by cooking her a slap-up meal at Louise's flat.

Sam's ex-girlfriend Riley Uggla joined the show in 2014, for season 7 of the show, but left after the NYC spin-off series.

Lucy Watson's sister Tiff joined the show in 2014, during series 8, and immediately set her sights on Sam.

Cheating allegations about Sam broke the couple apart, but they later reunited.

However, in 2015 the couple split again – after Tiff admitted to sleeping with somebody else while on holiday in Thailand.

The couple got back together once more at the very end of series 10, but split over the summer when Sam bedded co-star Mimi Bouchard in Ibiza while the pair were "on a break".

In an exclusive for The Sun Online Sam revealed that he is completely over Tiff and the pair no longer speak.

In 2018 Sam was rumoured to be dating Love Island's Danielle Sellers.

When is Celebs Go Dating on E4?

Celebs Go Dating returned to our screens for series six on Sunday February 24th.

You catch it on E4 at 9pm on weeknights.

A TV source said: “Bosses are really happy with the new line-up.

“The show really feels as though it has gone through a revamp following the arrival of so many new faces.

“Producers are pleased Celebs will be back on screen sooner than first expected – as stars of the series have already met and filming is set to begin as early as this week.

“The cast has just the perfect mix of those who’ve been looking for The One for years like Kerry – and those who still need to learn the ropes when it comes to women.”
