When is Bumblebee released in the UK?

Bumblebee is set to be released in UK cinemas on December 26, 2018. It’s released five days earlier in the US.

The sixth instalment of the live-action franchise is based on the Hasbro toys developed in the 1980s.

Bumblebee will serve as a prequel to 2007's Transformers but will be the first not to be directed by Michael Bay. Two-time Oscar-nominated Travis Knight will step into the director's position.

The hugely-successful franchise is already one of the world's highest-grossing with estimated earnings of over $4.3 billion.

Who's in the cast with Hailee Steinfeld?

American singer and Pitch Perfect star Hailee Steinfeld is the new Transformers lead, playing teenaged Charlie Watson, while Jorge Lendeborg Jr. will play her friend Memo.

WWE star John Cena plays Sector 7 agent Burns. Cena continues his journey into Hollywood after Dwayne Johnson's hugely successful switch from the ring to the acting world.

Peter Cullen reprises his role voicing the legendary character of Optimus Prime and Fast and Furious star John Ortiz joins the franchise as Sector 7 agent Powell.

The cast of Bumblebee is rounded off by Pamela Adlon as Charlie's mother, Angela Bassett as the voice of Deception Shatter, and Justin Theroux as the voice of Deception Dropkick.


What's the film about?

The film is set 20-years before the events of 2007's Transformers that detailed Bumblebee's adventures with Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky.

In 1987, Bumblebee arrives on Earth and takes refugee inside of a small California beach town junkyard, where he is found and taken in by teenage girl Charlie Watson.

The two are soon forced on the run after being hunted by a government agency known as Sector 7, led by Agent Burns.

As they attempt to flee from society, the two discover Bumblebee isn't the only Transformer on Earth…
