Fans of BBC's Waterloo Road were full of praise during the latest episode as they felt issues involving the male characters were handled brilliantly.

During Tuesday night's show, Preston Walters' bulimia storyline was further explored as he struggled to cope with school life.

While playing in a basketball match, Preston noticed his mother Nicky talking to one of the teachers.

Believing that his mum was checking up on him, Preston snapped. But his outburst quickly lead him to eat a number of cakes and purposely cause himself to be sick as a result.

Witnessing the heart-wrenching scene, emotional viewers turned to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One social media user penned: "Well done, #WaterlooRoad, for doing a male binge eating disorder storyline instead of a female, as male eating disorders need recognition too!"

Another fan echoed: "Tonight’s episode has been brilliant! I’m loving how quickly we are getting into all the different storylines. Preston and Kelly-Jo’s are very important stories to tell. Massive well done to the production team!"

A third wrote: "Lots of different and contradictory layers to Preston, which I really appreciate. He's sympathetic due to struggles with his mental health but it's driving toxic behaviour in his relationship with Samia, like trying to convince her she's being paranoid."

While a fourth added: "This series of #WaterlooRoad keeps getting better and better. Love the family unit of Preston, Nicky and Tonya."
