Who are The Swedes in Umbrella Academy?

The Swedes are a trio of brothers who work for The Commission, and they are hired by The Handler (Kate Walsh) to take out the Hargreeves siblings.

The brothers are known for disguising themselves as milkmen or vacuum cleaner salesmen. They also have a love of cats and live together under the same roof.

Viewers are introduced to the blonde brothers at the psychiatric unit where Diego (David Castañeda) and newcomer Lila (Ritu Arya) are being held.

They are following orders to kill Diego, but he and Lila manage to outrun the villains, who cause havoc at the unit.

They are later seen trying to kill Vanya (Ellen Page) as she was driving alone in her car.

In one of the scenes, the brothers chase Vanya into a cornfield and they are almost on her tail when she uses her powers to blow them backwards.

They may be powerful but they are not the smartest of villains, and often fall into traps set by the Hargreeves family.

Otto is played by Bryden, a Canadian actor and comedian who has also starred in Sports Talk Radio, The Acting Class and The Staffroom.

Axel is played by Holden-Ried, a Canadian actor and director who has starred in Lost Girl, The Tudors and Dark Matter.

The star posted a photo of his character on his Instagram account, with the message: “Woah, who the hell is this guy?!?

“Find out starting July 31 on @netflix. If you haven’t seen season one…now is the time.”

Oscar is played by Sinclair, a Canadian actor and musician who has starred in Serpentine and 21 Brothers.

Fans have mixed reviews about the new villains, with one saying on Twitter: “The Swedes at the start of the Umbrella Academy seemed like they’d be awful characters but they actually became decent to be fair.”

Another fan said: “I wanna buy a vacuum from the Swedes, they look like nice fellows.”

In one of the scenes, the brothers turn up at Allison’s (Emmy Raver-Lampman) door pretending to be vacuum salesmen.

She is fooled long enough for them to enter her house and has to fight them off.

Like the other assassins in The Commission, the brothers received assignments posted in golden tubes.

Fans found out The Handler was actually alive after she was shot by Hazel (Cameron Britton) and she is the one controlling them.

This season is based on the comic book volume called The Umbrella Academy: Dallas, which sees the siblings go back to Dallas in the 1960s.

The Swedes follow the siblings across the timeline and use their over-the-top artillery to try and take them down.

Fans will learn they suffer huge losses along the way, as they fail to work together as a team.

The Swedes have become popular characters as fans have fallen in love with their strange conventions.

They are known for remaining silent throughout most of the season, which is just one of their many quirks.

Showrunner Steve Blackman introduced The Swedes to fans via his Twitter account, with fans calling the new series “brilliant” and “exciting”.

Holden-Reid has generated a huge fanbase on social media since he starred in the new season.

One fan said: “Can’t wait to see you in Umbrella Academy, I love that show.”
