TV daredevil Guy Martin smashes fastest tractor world record in five-tonne JCBNovember 17, 2019
Daredvil TV presenter Guy Martin has smashed the world record for the fastest tractor by clocking over 153mph in a five-tonne JCB.
The former motorcycle racer adapted a Fastrac 4000 to beat the existing record set by Top Gear’s The Stig of 87.2mph last year.
Martin, who admitted he was “s**tting it” during the first few attempts on the runway at Elvington Airfield in York, managed to hit a peak speed of 153.771mph.
As Guinness World Records officials only accept the average speed over the middle kilometre of the run, the team have gone down in the history books with a world record of 135.191mph.

The presenter said: “When we did 150mph we were going into the unknown. I thought we might need a wheelbarrow to pick up the engine bits.
“When I did the first few runs I was clinging on for grim death to the steering wheel.
“To start with I was s**tting myself, but the more I did the more I got used to it.”
The speed challenge is the latest for Grimsby-born Martin, who also holds the world record for the highest speed on a Wall of Death.
