Tipping Point’s Ben Shephard squirms as player makes ‘unlucky’ question mistakeOctober 14, 2020
Tipping Point fans branded one contestant as "unlucky" on Wednesday's episode, as she decided to pass twice in the first round.
Player Holly, from Basingstoke, was a fan favourite from the beginning of the show, with a chic leopard print jacket and stylish specs.
However, her performance in the first round left host Ben Shephard squirming, after she opted to pass on two major wins.
When Holly got her first correct answer, she passed to her fellow player Roger, letting him enjoy a profitable spin on the slot machine.
Later, she got a question about Christmas turkeys correct, only to make the same mistake, saying: "I'm going to pass again."
Leaving the win to rival player Eileen, Holly watched as a whopping eight counters fell into her competitor's kitty.
Ben was left wincing after witnessing Holly's poor decision making, as he exclaimed: "Holly! Eight counters there Eileen."
Letting Holly know she had just one opportunity remaining to make it through to the second round, Ben said: "Right then Holly, it's just you left in."
Though she got her question – about penalty shoot-outs – correct, Holly chose the wrong drop zone, and added zero pounds to her prize pot.
The loss meant Holly was eliminated from the competition, as Ben gasped: "No Holly, no! So close."
He added: "I'm sorry Holly, that means we're going to lose you at the end of the round."
Holly accepted her defeat graciously, thanking Ben for a wonderful day before exiting the ITV studios with her head held high.
Taking to Twitter, Tipping Point viewers vented their frustration over her tactics, as some wondered whether Holly had misunderstood the rules of the game.
One said: "Holly …. unlucky buddy."
"Wtf Holly!! Do you wanna go home!?" wondered a second.
"Turn off #tippingpoint it's goodbye Holly, don't think she understood the game to be honest #pass," added a third.
Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
