August 4, 2022SUPERVET Noel Fitzpatrick opens up about his devastating loss of his pet dog Keira last year after nearly 14 years.
The Channel 4 series returns to our screens on Thursday night with many tear-jerking stories and insights into life as a vet.
Noel, 54, talked about loosing one of his dogs Keira who was involved in a traffic accident that left her in recovery for a year, before her passing.
She was sadly hit by a delivery van after it sped around a corner, just outside Noel’s veterinary practice leaving her with internal organ damage and a shattered pelvis.
The Irish veterinary surgeon operated on his own dog.
He announced the death of his beloved border terrier in September 2021 in an Instagram post.
He wrote: “It is with profound sadness I share the news that Keira, my beloved companion of nearly 14 years, has passed away.

“We were especially lucky to have been gifted magical further time with her when she nearly lost her life too soon a year ago.
“I am so thankful for your kind wishes and support at that difficult time and for the incredible love you have shown us.

“She inspired everything I do for animals and her legacy will be eternal.
"I will pay full tribute to my little girl once we have had some time to grieve.

Professor Noel Fitzpatrick is an Irish veterinary surgeon who opened his pioneering private referral practice Fitzpatrick Referrals in Surrey in 2008.
Since opening the surgery, Noel has taken part in the BBC documentary The Bionic Vet in 2010 and the Channel 4 series The Supervet.
Noel has received a Guinness World Record for his pioneering operation on Oscar the cat, who was the first animal in the world to receive two bionic leg implants.
He has also been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Surrey for the advancement of animal health.
The Supervet airs Thursdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
