The Grand Tour is Amazon Prime Video’s answer to the classic car series Top Gear. Starring the original trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, the series sees them discovering all there is about cars while having some non-motor vehicle-related adventures as well. The Grand Tour is making a comeback for its latest special Carnage A Trois later this week and jets viewers off to some truly picturesque locations.
Where is Carnage A Trois filmed?
The Grand Tour: Carnage A Trois is all about French cars and what makes them stand out compared to others from around the world.
In the trailer, Clarkson says: “France. We like their food, we like their wine – but, French cars can be a bit weird.”
So with this in mind, the gang is going to “dive into the bizarre world of French car culture” in order to examine what they do and don’t like about the nation’s vehicles.
However, Carnage A Trois will not take place in France as expected.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Clarkson, Hammond and May weren’t able to travel outside of the UK for the special.
Carnage A Trois was filmed earlier this year during the latest lockdown so their feet had to firmly remain on UK soil.
Nevertheless, this didn’t stop them from travelling around between England and Wales which is where the show was filmed.
The team was spotted back in January by fans and the local media during some of the production.
The Grand Tour trio travelled to and from the two countries in order to bring their show to life.
Some of the places that they visited include Crickhowell, Leamington and Llandrindod.
Despite staying put in the UK, The Grand Tour is expected to be as exciting as ever.
The synopsis teases “a hair-raising mountain climb, bomb defusals, propeller-powered cars, helicopter stunts and the most thrilling race of their lives”.

This is the second lockdown special Clarkson, Hammond and May have filmed for The Grand Tour.
Last year, they shot and released The Grand Tour presents… Lochdown, which was a Scotland-based special of the show.
They managed to film the episode over a 10-day period but it reportedly cost the producers £50,000 in coronavirus tests.
And from the sound of it, filming wasn’t that much easier the second time around.
Speaking about filming the special, Clarkson said: “Filming in Covid, I don’t know, it’s sort of forced us to be on our A-game really because the risk was so intense.
“I mean, there may be 50 people in the crew, and we couldn’t just take 50 rooms in a hotel, we had to take over the whole hotel because this was the protocols that were given to us.
“We all had to be tested every day and if anybody failed, even any one person failed, then the whole ship had to be abandoned, which would have been financially ruinous, so it was a big team effort.”
The Grand Tour: Carnage A Trois is released on Friday, December 17, on Amazon Prime Video.
