During Tuesday’s The Chase, ITV host Bradley Walsh welcomed four more hopefuls onto the show who were hoping to win mega money against The Chaser. Contestants Rebecca, Arshad, Dean and Heather each took their turn to go against Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty. However, just minutes into the programme, Anne and Bradley jokingly clashed after The Governess got a question wrong. Anne appeared to get annoyed with the host as she told him to “shut up”.

Dean was the first contestant to take on the Chaser as Bradley asked him: “First up, looking forward to it?”

“Yes, definitely,” the player replied as Bradley asked: “What do you do for a living?”

Dean continued: “I’m a graphic designer from Leeds. We design logos for small brands or start-up companies.”

After storming through the quick-fire question round, Dean managed to win £5,000 for his team.

Despite wanting to go head-to-head with Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Dean was pleased to see he would be going against Anne.

The Governess gave Dean a lower offer of £1,000 and a higher offer of £20,000.

However, he decided to play it safe and tried to play for the £5,000.

“That’s what this team is like,” Anne commented. “Steady and boring.”

The graphic designer got off to a good start after getting a Take That question right.

Anne also sailed through the questions, although, The Chaser appeared to stumble over the third question.

Bradley asked: “Who allegedly said ‘The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read?’”

Dean seemed to know the correct answer and went with Mark Twain while Anne decided to try her luck with Albert Einstein.

“It was between B and C,” The Chaser explained as she admitted she didn’t know the answer.

Taking the opportunity to take a swipe at Anne, Bradley said: “Strangely enough Albert Einstein was the only one who wasn’t really a writer.

“Although Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain were, I wonder what made you choose that?”

“Well, he did write important papers on things like the photoelectric effect for which he won the Nobel Prize.”

“But not really books and stuff, was he?” Bradley teased. “The Chaser who does not swat up has no advantage over the player who can’t swat up.”

“Shut up,” an unimpressed Anne barked at The Chase frontman before he swiftly moved on with the show.

Dean managed to storm through the round against Anne, winning £5,000 for the cash fund.

Heather was up next and managed to win £3,000 for the team, while Arshad decided to take a gamble and went for a £40,000 offer.

Rebecca also made it through to the final round, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to beat Anne after she managed to answer all the questions correctly with just four seconds to spare.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
